Low energy [SELV] 12 volt lighting is NOT energy saving lighting

Low energy [SELV] 12 volt lighting is NOT energy saving lighting.

Electrical power is paid for in watts [kWh]. Electrical current is Watts/Volts=Amps.

50 watt 12 volt lamp is 50/12 = 4.17 Amps.

50 watt 230 volt lamp is 50/230 = 0.22 Amps

As shown above much more current is needed to power a lower voltage lamp. Get the best of both worlds and invest in 230 volt LED lamps. 50 watt halogen equivalent in an LED lamp is 7 watts.

07 watt LED lamp is 07/230 = 0.03 Amps 138 7 watt, 230 volt LEDs will consume the same power as 1, 50 watt, 12 volt lamp.
